Capt. Steeles 09 December 2025
System Performance and New Features
- Slow Loading Speed:
- Captain Steeles demonstrates slow loading of tasks in Vessel 360.
- Dan Roberts identifies the issue: the current single-page application loads all data (two years’ worth) at once for offline availability.
- Solution: A new multi-page application is under development by a new team.
- Will load data in stages.
- Will provide a fleet view of all tasks and equipment.
- Offline strategy will change to incremental data based on timestamps, improving data integrity and speed.
- ETA: Mid-January for the new multi-page application and apps.
- Android Application Availability:
- Captain Steeles requests Android support, as the company primarily uses Android devices.
- ETA: iOS, Android, and tablet applications will be available by mid-January.
- Task and Checklist Notifications:
- Captain Steeles reports not receiving email notifications for assigned one-time tasks or checklists.
- A fix was released within the last two hours.
- Stephanie Post will:
- Set up immediate email notifications for tasks, work orders, and checklists for all users going forward.
- Send a daily Captain’s report on updated and completed items.
- Crew Training and Certification Management:
- Captain Steeles seeks a way to upload and manage crew training certificates and receive expiration alerts.
- Current Workaround:
- Rhiannon Silvashy suggests attaching certificates to completed checklists or storing them in the “Documents” section with custom folders.
- Stephanie Post suggests treating certifications as “equipment” for annual recurring tasks.
- Custom tasks can be created for expiration alerts (e.g., 30 days out).
- Future Development:
- Dan Roberts will develop a feature to add expiration dates to documents with associated alerts.
- A dedicated crew training platform will be integrated into the software by mid-next year.
- Will record training events (trainer, procedures, identified issues).
- Will provide reminders for due training (e.g., “five crew requiring man overboard training again next month”).
- Checklist Templates and Movement:
- Captain Steeles requests the ability to move checklists between vessels or use templates at an organizational level.
- Currently requires manual copy-pasting.
- Stephanie Post notes this could be a development item.
- Winterization/Layup Period for Tasks:
- Captain Steeles wants to prevent tasks from accumulating during the vessel winterization period (e.g., December 15 to March 1).
- Currently, tasks are manually moved to new dates (e.g., March, April, May).
- Stephanie Post and Dan Roberts confirm this is part of the planned “layup period” feature, requiring an exception rule for tasks.
- Old Equipment Task Management:
- Captain Steeles wants to stop receiving tasks for old equipment while retaining associated documentation (e.g., user manuals).
- Current Workaround: Stephanie Post suggests editing the task interval to “NA”.
- Future Development: Dan Roberts proposes an “archive” feature for equipment and vessels, allowing retention of documentation without active tasks.
- Run Times Circle Image:
- The missing image in the “run times” circle has been fixed in Dan Roberts’s development environment.
Identified Bugs
- Safety Management System (SMS) Export Issue:
- When exporting completed tasks to an Excel spreadsheet, tasks identified as part of the SMS do not retain that identification.
- Dan Roberts will add this to the bug list.
Next Steps
- Rhiannon Silvashy will:
- Touch base with Captain Steeles at the end of February to schedule an on-site luncheon/training session.
- Captain Steeles will:
- Contact Rhiannon Silvashy in February to plan an on-site training session, likely in April, to include marine staff and GM Eric.
